NOVOSIS — a next-generation bone graft for spine surgery and serious fractures.
Some injuries and surgeries need extra help to heal. NOVOSIS delivers a natural bone-building protein right where it’s needed, so your body can grow new bone.
BMP stands for Bone Morphogenetic Protein. It’s a protein your body already makes to signal where new bone should grow. BMP-2 is one of the strongest of these signals. It calls in the body’s repair cells and turns them into new bone.

How NOVOSIS works
A slow, steady boost for bone healing
NOVOSIS combines two parts:
rhBMP-2
The bone-building protein, made in a laboratory.
Hydroxyapatite granules
A porous, bone-like mineral that acts as a scaffold and carrier.
Protein releaseup to 28 days

Illustration of a slow, steady release — not measured data.
The granules hold the protein and release it slowly, for up to 28 days. New bone grows through the scaffold and joins up with the surrounding bone. Because the release is steady, only a low dose is needed.
When is it used?
Where NOVOSIS can help
Spine fusion surgery
Helping two vertebrae in the lower back grow together into one solid bone.
Bone loss from injury
Filling gaps in bone after a serious fracture from an accident.
What makes it different
Why NOVOSIS?
Grows new bone
Actively signals your body to form bone, not just fill a gap.
Slow, controlled release
Protein released steadily for up to 28 days.
Lower dose
The slow-release carrier means less BMP is needed.
An alternative to taking bone from your hip
Surgeons can use it instead of, or together with, bone taken from your own hip, which would otherwise mean a second wound.
Strong scaffold
Porous granules (about 80% porosity) give new bone room to grow.
Is NOVOSIS right for me?
NOVOSIS is used by experienced surgeons during an operation. If you’re planning spine surgery or have a fracture that is slow to heal, ask your surgeon whether a bone graft like NOVOSIS is suitable for you.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is NOVOSIS a medicine I take?
No. It is placed directly at the bone during surgery by your surgeon.
Where does the bone-building protein come from?
It is made in a laboratory using recombinant technology. It is not taken from a human or animal donor.
Will I still need a bone graft from my hip?
That depends on your surgery. Your surgeon will decide the best approach.
